NUUP

This model features two carved pieces of reclaimed bull horn, shaped together to resemble butterfly wings. Both are attached on either side by cotton thread and assembled onto a cotton textile woven on a backstrap loom. 

NUUP means “union” in Mayan and symbolizes the connection formed between the artisans, their communities, and their shared stories. 

NUUP represents the joining of the rich Maya artisanal world and the artisans’ emotional journey of transforming natural elements into truly unique pieces, showcasing the talent of the communities where they were made.
